We have been through it.
The places we thought we might not reach
Hidden in places we weren’t that sure we would be able to get to.
but somehow we got here.
The magic that happens when you let yourself let others in.
I might just be speaking from within,
but without friends,
there wouldn’t be much to speak about to begin
We’ve grown to love so kindly from she.
a heart as big as it is free. showing freedom in ways to live.
To GIVE. To give. and to give. without restraint.
like branches of a tree jangling down singing melodies as they sway.
and her muse. a creative force that sings songs by day.
Calling us all to be the same. Joyful and brave. Giving joy and watching it be.
It grows into seeds of new words and new trees
and she plants them right back into the ground
watching life sprout from the sound of echoes that have once believed they were born from dirt.
And if it hurt she would mend it.
To make right the wrongs that have once believed they belonged there.
And in his silence he stares, seeing her healing touch bring forth life
So he tells us what that looks like, in colors and lines.
That would tell time if they could be kept within sand.
He has a brand.

This sacred place.
patient and beautiful.
Teaches us to rest in this moment.
Until we witness;
Frowns that break under the weight of beauty.
Smiles that reflect the gentle gaze our souls have met.
Sacred laughs turning into sacred tears
and the secrets of the earth;
slowly singing melodies into our ears
praising peace into a parade of branches and leaves
Until It feels like
my heart.
beating into the earth.
and the earth
beating into your heart.
And its rhythms begin to sway our bodies to the tune
of the music that we are.
And it plays so lovely and true.
In its nobility and grace, it frees mountains and trees
so that lies and deceit no longer tint the shades from which we see
and somehow as if looking into a mirror,
we see the most wonderful parts of ourselves when we look at each other.
patient and beautiful.
Where we can forever rest in this moment.
This sacred space.

On Tuesday, writer’s at synchronicity LA came together for their first “Make-Believe Writer’s Workshop” where each individual can come and share an open space of creative energy and the space to explore their voices and the inner voices that brought out those words. Here is a small recap of the night along with memorable quotes of the night that gave forth life to new voices.
“And I’m tired of my words saying “Fuck You!” I want them to say “I Love you”
– Mariah
We share ourselves to each other in the emotions of our words and we put words into existence to feel our emotions. And it was the first night that we came together in an intentional way to share our creativity and catharsis, in the ways where our connections can bring context and depth to the challenges of what it means to be ourselves and to let our words speak forth revelations, apologies, anger, pain, prophecy, in our imagination and creativity.
“Bump. Bump, Bump”
-Lydia
We all need new words, and we only learn how to find them when we step into new places, so we go forth into new paths looking for symbols, sounds, sights, that might bring us closer to the words we are looking for, or the words that we need to lose. And we make new words with each other, connecting feelings and emotion to thoughts and impulses forging ahead trails of glorious discovery and amazement.
“Coffee dripping.”
-Ariel
“I used to believe that god was a nest and we were birds.”
-Johanna
Voices begin to find their way out into the silence, and much in the same way that the negative space still has the ability to make pictures, so do the words that we have learned to unsay still can make stories. So we tell them to each other hoping that somehow having our stories heard by those that can hear makes us believe in them more.
“You are”
-Amy
There is lots to be said of riding the momentum of our collective creativity, and I believe that as we continue to share our creative energy with one another, we can continue to shape the realities which we inhabit. We hope to continue riding the collective wave that was sprung from the ocean of our words, and we hope to find growth in our words where they dig deeper into our roots and grow out into the skies with our imaginations.
“Truth so dangerously beautiful my words begin to transform crossword puzzles into Psalms”
-J.P.

Come join us every Wednesday night at 9:00pm for the “Make-Believe” writers workshop. Bring your voice, your creativity, your intention and kindness. Where we all come together and make-believe.
“Carrots and raisins are my art teachers.”
-Trent

A Poem by JP Martinez.
It’s the feeling of familiarity.
Familiar voices that speak to your unheard thoughts.
Familiar eyes that reflect a mirror made of flesh
Familiar smiles that laugh, Familiar frowns that cry,
In ways that we have known for so long only in ourselves.
Where they remain as dormant reflections.
Leaving imprints into our memories.
It’s not till you come home again,
Where sullen gazes and quick glances
Act as a montage of moments passing
Turning our stories into a map
Of where we might have been,
and where we might be going.
As we march along into unknown territory inevitably finding unused paths, making new lives, and rediscovering ourselves.
Knowing that we can venture further than we believed,
Without the slightest fear of getting lost.
Because we can always
Come home again for the first time,
To see faces that laugh and cry a lot like ours.

A friend once told me that a friend once told her that when you meet your heroes, one of two things can happen. You will find out that they are either (one) complete ass-holes, or (two) just like you.
Sometimes you just have to believe in the magic of this world and how the universe orchestrates a symphony of synchronicity into sounds and people. Often times we aspire to create in ways that are beyond our current means, yet we need only to look towards those who are currently exploring their creative limits and pushing beyond them to implant sparks of hope into our future selves while simultaneously being inspiration to go further down.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros capture the soul of connecting the sounds we make to the things we feel with the boundaries of words and the limitlessness of instruments dancing with friendship and connected existence. An inspiration of music borne out of love and humanity and the beauty that is made in connecting the deepest parts of who we are to those that recognize where to find it.

If you vibe, we vibe. And if you dance we dance. So we went to the show and believed it. 10 songs later, a few more drinks later, and a whole lot of dance moves later, we not only believed, we knew. This was something special, and it happened here amongst us, and it will happen in many other places that they will choose to do this. On tour, at venues, in concert, during practice, at a local coffee shop, or a music festival. But who would have ever thought, that this would happen at our own home. Synchronicity LA.
We were going about our regular monday night, food being prepared by our magician chefs, and food ready to be consumed by our hungry masses. As food becomes energy for our bodies, we attract energy in our own intentions. Sometimes all it takes is an e-mail. Sometimes all it takes is a hungry person to be offered food.
Dinner passes and the unusual amount of masses (up to 26 people at this point) are fed sufficiently. Then the door opens and more people come strolling in. Although the night has an usual amount of guests, these were the first of the unexpected variety. Yet we should have always expected this. The words and music we believed in and danced to 4 weeks before, has made its way into our house through its lead singer. We introduce ourselves, and they do the same, and we sit back a bit stunned by his unexpected presence. Yet the night moves forward, and forward. Until the night climaxes when we find ourselves huddled in a circle sharing gifts of creativity and sound. Each individual offering up their gift to the universe and leaving imprints of moments embedded in the spaces of all that hear, see and experience. It is in that moment that we discover the beauty of what had happened. We just met a hero, but we didn’t understand what that meant until we realized that not only was he not an asshole, but he was just like us, and he brought along that something special we were so sure he would bring everywhere else he would go.

We all sit around in a large circle
on couches inhabiting our living room every Wednesday
night in order to maintain intentionality.
We take turns making miracles appear
on the table for dinner every Monday-Thursday
any where between 6pm-8pm.
We imagine new worlds by connecting good energy
and positive vibes into the sockets of the universe.
We make-believe in each other……

We all wash cups and we all clean dishes
making promises of stars and rotten eggs.
We eat food that falls from the sky given to us by
Trader Josephina the goddess of the dumpster.
We take care of two animals, Mochi J. Brownie and Sprout De La Paz,
and they are the yin to each other’s yang.
We (used to) go around the table and make noises
(no words) to describe how our day went while eating dinner.
